Matthew M. Kavanagh

Matthew M. Kavanagh, PhD, directs the Georgetown University Center for Global Health Policy & Politics and holds faculty appointments in global health and law. A political scientist by training, with a long history of work in global health policy and politics, his research sits at the intersection of law, political economy, and global health and explores how international and national governance institutions function and produce inequality, particularly in pandemics. Dr Kavanagh was Deputy Director ai at the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS) from 2021-2023 and continues to serve as Special Advisor to the Executive Director.
